Post by housil » Mon Apr 06, 2015 2:11 pm

Today I opened a 2005 (5138) "Vegetable Manicotti".

I´m not a this big fan of manicotti or cannelonies, but I realy like that MRE dish.

I only had the peanuts butter & crackers, they were OK as usually and the entree.

So how was a 10 years old one?!

Lookes good, smelled good...

First was this heated or eaten cold?
Second did you add any of your own powdered cheese?
Third did it fill you up?

The meal looks good from the photos, nice red sauce but I would need some field bread to go with that meal.
The U.S. white snack bread would work for me

I can´t compare the taste to anything... It´s "MRE-Manicotti-taste"
The bright color of the filling is from the flash light of the camera.

1.) As a lazy kid, I ate all canned meals only cold but now a days, I enjoy to heat them up well. At home, I mostly warm them up in hot/boiling water as to me that gives the best result in texture and taste. Microwaving is only "Plan B"

2.) I didn´t add anything to it

3.) I had the crackers w/ peanuts butter before. That was ~ +600kcal so it was "OK" to me.

It's funny, this thing is 10 years older than the other entree you just reviewed and it looks even better!

My girlfriend is cooking stuffed Enchiladas tonight and I can imagine they will be looking similar to this. At least I can only hope...!

Very nice and thankyou for sharing this nicely vintaged entree! :)
