The intentions were good, but the FRH was bad.
Because a number of people had mentioned the #22 - Asian Beef Strips MRE, I took one along with me today on a hike up to the ledges above one of our local ponds figuring I get some nice shots of fine dining in the woods.
No such luck.

Once more the FRH let me down. 45 minutes into it and it only came up to lukewarm. I settled on snacks.
The good news is that my insulated heater bag kept it lukewarm for the full two hours it took me to get home... ?!?!

[AND the photos won't upload to post because of the site lag on here]

How was the flavor on the strips? Spicy or supposed to be spicy but actually bland

Nort- because of the flameless heater failure, I didn't go ahead and eat it. It was barely tepid, so I settled for jerky and rice crackers.
I'm on the lookout for some sort of a shallow rectangular, aluminum pan that I can put directly over my little stoves and just drop an MRE in a 1/2" of H20 in that. I almost always take along the stove so that I can have a hot hot hot beverage.
I DO like the luxury of a hot meal, and a hot beverage. I am not a big fan of tepid.

But the Asian Beef Strips are at the top of the pile for the next time I go out.

Rattattoo Here is one section of what I think is a French mess tin set. It can hold a MRE pork patty flat .
Also it can carry the ESBIT , extra fuel tabs, spoon , matches and other items.
The handle folds over, into the slot
II have an entire Dutch kit so I don't need this piece. If you want it .
You can have it, just PM me
