The first thing I went into this test with a strong prejudice against Army issue Tuna
To be fair I never tried a MRE Tuna entree ever! I was told by older NCO's in the late 1970's that the MCI Tuna will go bad,
can't trust it. (Don't know if that was true)
So I already had a built in fear of old Army tuna in a can, U.S. Army tuna in a bag is even more scary.
I notice when I opened the tuna was the it did not smell like a fresh can.
Odd Oder , slight vinegar smell
I sniffed and smell but just could not bring myself to try it. I tried to give some to the Bulldog who will eat MRE beef, Chicken or Pork. But he would not get near this..
I opened the cake and thought the color looked funny. But felt confident enough to try a bite.
No it tasted bad, strong metallic taste and terrible after taste.
The jelly looked normal tasted normal to my taste buds. No after taste
Crackers where the modern large size. They tasted totally fresh and still had good flavor
The M&Ms tasted like the chocolate flavor had been removed. Basically they tasted bland and had a chalk like texture
Did not try the coffee or drink powder, threw them in mix and match bag
Side note on the tuna, cake, crackers and jelly.
Left it outside in the woods overnight
Something ate the jelly and crackers but left the tuna and cake
I put the tuna in the chicken house and they did not like either.
Normal chickens will eat anything edible. This time they gave it a pass
I stuck it on top of the chicken house and something ate it (Racoon?)
