I have 3 packs of early-mid 80's MRE Catsup I am presenting. One feels like it may still be good... and alas it was. The only catsup I've ever seen that was still good! Turned red and tasted great! I put it in my fridge and will have with french fries later - and will take pics.

The pictures speak for themselves here - check them out - neat stuff! 8)

I also still have one cat soup pouch. Too bad these two got spoiled.
I remember they can with that infamous dehydrated beef

I've never even heard of dehydrated catsup/ketchup. Now I sorta wish I hadn't... yuck.

I think I'll stick to the more modern mylar packs from my local McCarlKing (thank you, NASA!).

Very interesting review 8) on a Accessory Packet content that is gone since 1987 :( : The CATSUP was part of the MRE Accessory Packets D and E between 1981 and 1987. It was designated to use it with the "Pork Patties Dehydrated" and the "Frankfurters".

I have couple of those in my collection, some are caked and some are still powdery. Why that is so, I don´t know :? . I guess storage conditions are the determining factor. Do you the storage conditions over the last years of yours?

Thankyou! :)

I too, think it is a shame they didn't continue producing these for accessory packets! :(

I think heat is a big factor on storage, plus if there are any pinholes in the A-pack or in the catsup pack it's self.
Your packs that are still powdery and not solid are most likely still good! :D

I still have the catsup in my fridge in a small tight container i put it in, I imagine I should enjoy one of my old Dehydrated Pork Patties with it and take pics by next week! 8) :)
