Hi guys,

today I tested a MRE recipe called "SUPREME COMMAND CHOCOLATE NUT CAKE" taken out of "THE UNOFFICIAL MRE RECIPE BOOKLET" by TABASCO dated 1985. See the following photo review for details:

PEANUT BUTTER, COCOA BEVERAGE POWDER, SUGAR and WATER combined after stirring (to reach the seen consistence I added about 6 further vintage white MRE spoons of water)

The next three pictures show the PEANUT BUTTER, COCOA BEVERAGE POWDER, SUGAR, WATER combination poured over the CHOCOLATE NUT CAKE

The taste was great :D : Creamy and very sweet :D . The chocolate-peanut butter mix is awesome :D !

I just added up the calories of the ingredients :) :
CHOCOLATE NUT CAKE about 400 calories
PEANUT BUTTER about 250 calories
COCOA BEVERAGE POWDER about 95 calories
SUGAR about 23 calories

In total: 768 calories :!:

Ah yes, that dessert will definately send the pancreas screaming and running for cover! I never could force myself to eat the chocolate nut cake, for some reason it had a bitter aftertaste (especially the later ones) which I now attribute to the nuts, but when they were all the rage in the '80s, there should have been no reason for bitterness in a dessert item that fresh.

You are certainly right, that dessert is "too much" for eating it at one go or alone :) .

That's why I shared it with my wife, she ates the second half, after I have eaten the first :) .

Hi MREheater,

cool review, thanks for sharing!
Looks good, tastes better, wants more
Looks familiar, You did a good job. Very nice with the nut cake indeed.
I didn't get my mixture to stay on top of the crackers/cake in this case, either It stays a little on the soft side and 'runs' over the cake. but hé, who said you shouldn't eat your fingers ;)
