Hello Everyone,
It's been awhile since I've made some product reviews, I had today off and decide to post two new reviews for your consideration. The first is the FSR Zapplesauce. It's been one of those items that's been elusive ever since the FSR's came out. Well, about a month ago I was buying some items at The Epicenter.com and saw the new Zapplesauce pouches.
I did try one the other day since I was late for work and didn't have time to grab very much heading out the door. The Zapplesauce as we all have read about is applesauce flavored with maltodextrin to give an added edge to warfighters while in combat or doing heavy physical activity. The ones I purchased are quite fresh. Everyone of them had a 2010 production date on them, not bad.
The pouches are quite simple, snip the top off and guzzle right out of the pouch. They are designed to do that not like zip a side or top off like the rest of the applesauce pouches go. The appearance is just like regular stuff although if you look at more closely it has a lighter texture and consistency and the taste is that of applesauce but much more tart. It's not distracting but you notice it right off.
So, if you looking for something to stock up on then this is a nice balance to your major end items. As it doesn't take up space, and it very light. The one thing is that it does have a higher than average sugar and maltodextrin content to it. I'm not sure maltodextrin does all around for energy consumption in the body but if somebody could post it here so we could all find out that would be great.
As far as putting it in my FSIR's, I alredy have included it. I just did an order for Hannonmc and he will get the first batch of FSIR's with Zapplesauce so I will let him put a product review here when he gets a chance.
Product taste test of FSR Zapplesauce
Re: Product taste test of FSR Zapplesauce
Treesuit, looking forward to trying it out camping the 2nd weekend of June! I have 3 FSRs, but I just didn't want to open them yet so I appreciate you adding them to your FSIRs.
A few of my budies are getting your FSIRs, so hopefully I'll have a review from a few people!
