Chicken and Dumplings - Menu 22 - 2007

I had this meal a few weeks ago. It adds to the list of the different menus that I had wanted to try out.

New for 2007...
Not as much inside this one compared to other meals...

Chicken and Dumplings
WSB (oh joy)
Apple Jelly
Lemon Pound Cake
Chocolate Shake

The contents...
So, for me, this more of a single meal without any additional snacks for the day.

I heated up the main meal in some hot water and was pleasently surprised at how good it looked!

Close-up. Nice and thick...
Hard to believe this only had a 4 year run. The only complaints I had was the WSB, but they didn't have the biscuit yet, because a biscuit would go perfectly with this. Also, wish there was another side snack. The sauce was creamy and tasty. The vegetables and chicken were very good as well.

I even made up the chocolate shake... They are passable. If I was out in the woods and had cold water, I probably wouldn't mind it as much, but I really don't crave these things...

I think Chicken and Dumplings are just one of those things that don't can or preserve terribly well. I've never had the MRE version, but I love a fresh batch of chicken and dumplings. Practically all the canned versions I've tried have been mildly to severely disappointing. This looks good however, but I agree this MRE is light on actually filling you up - wheat snack bread AND a pound cake is too much.
