Hi guys,

some weeks ago I bought a vintage can of MCI (MEAL, COMBAT, INDIVDUAL) Applesauce at eBay as collectible (I have never seen that "design" before). I do not know the exact date of pack, but due to the sellers description of the can I guess it is about 1968. The condition of the can is very good, no dents or rust :D , there is only a tiny hole in the lid :( . To conserve that nice condition I decided to open the can to discharge the contents. See the following photos, but WARNING :!: , they are not really appetizing...

Close-up of the upper lid of the APPLESAUCE can with printing and code "21*B67", that I can´t decipher. Tue to the "design" of the can I estimate it was filled about 1968. The packer is SEBASTOPOL COOPERATIVE CANNERY. See the tiny hole left of the "S" from the first word SEBSATOPOL

Close-up of the side of the can, very good condition, not dents or rust, the finish nearly without scratches :D

I opened the bottom lid of the can, the APPLESAUCE looks like tar  :!: , but the smell of apples was still there  :!:

I agree. It seems like something like this should just seem gross, but it's actually VERY interesting to see what the applesauce looks like after all these years. It's a little like opening up a bit of history! Thanks mreheater!
