Hi guys,
last weekend I opened a tray ration LEMON CAKE WITH WHITE ICING DoP December 2010
. That kind of cake is regarding to the NATICK UGR LIST issued frozen to the troops
. As I bought it on a German flea market in Mai 2011 is was not frozen, so I refroze it for storing in hope that it had not gone bad during the time is was not frozen
. But see the following pics:
The tray ration cake with icing pouch on the lid after thawing the second time

Printing on the plastic tray with date code 0354 (December 2010)

Back side of plastic container

The tan colored pouch of WHITE ICING that was glued on the lid of the tray ration

Back side of the tan colored pouch of WHITE ICING with two glue stripes

Date code 0333A1TP2 (December 2010 THERMO PAC) on the icing pouch

First tiny hole in the pouch of WHITE ICING

Second tiny hole in the pouch of WHITE ICING, so it went in the trash

Cake tray without icing pouch

Close-up of cake tray description

Opened tray ration, I need a caliper to pull the lid from the plastic container
, very good glue/seam

Close-up of the LEMON CAKE

Close-up 1 of the LEMON CAKE

Close-up 2 of the LEMON CAKE

The taste: Very fine, a little bit moist, not too sweet with light lemon flavor
. What a pity that the icing could not be used
, so the cake perhaps would have been still better
, although it was very fine without icing, too. I was happy that it was not bad/molded, even after it was stored an unknown time unfrozen
.
