Hi guys,

today I opened a MRE PINEAPPLE NUT CAKE with DATE OF PACK 1982. The outer cardboard was unfortunately missing, but the date code of the inner pouch said 2286, so it was packed October 13, 1982, about 29 years old when opened :!: :) !

Some photos:

Pouch front side with date code 2286

Pouch rear side, that time the inner wrappers were still glued into the cardboard, here the you can see some leftover of glue

The three following pictures show a cake in perfect shape and appearance, nearly as baked yesterday :D

The taste was awesome as always, even 29 years after packing :!: :D ! Moist and juice and very tasty, representative for NUT CAKES :D :D !!!

So long mreheater72

Maybe there is something in pineapple that stops the nuts going rancid :?:

To my experience it is the „Nut Cake Environment“ that prevents the nuts from going rancid , independent what kind of Nut Cake it is. All Nut Cakes I ate the last years were still fine :D . I guess norge shares that experience :) .
