Hi,
This is my second mre tray review. This was something I though would be your standard white fluffy dry white rice. Not!!!!! This hard pressed sticky brick form of wheat rice block, needs to be beaten and smashed until ready to serve. It ends up on a spoon like oatmeal, and you can't get it off, by the time you do, you got rice all over the place sticking to everything in it's fight path! I think this stuff would make great axle jacks for jeeps, about 6 ot 8 trays needed.

So, I sat back thinking what in the heck am I going to do with stuff, Here is what I did and the ideas I come up with.

Chop off part of the brick and place in a zip lock back and work and break lose, and bring out the wok or fry pan, go easy on oil and any liquid base that require water, this made a not to bad fried rice deal with some additions!

The other option is this would perfect for making a rice pudding! Or you could always use the trays for leveling buildings like the cabin, shed, gargage.
Oh, just one other thing, making the fried rice option takes less time, than it does to heat up the tray to begin with!

:o sounds a pretty disappointing item.
Sounds like it could do with a wash before preparing, but im assuming there is no way you can do that before heating?

As you say, good for sticky rice stuff, like FR and pudding, but not as a side..

Maybe it could also be used as a replacement for ceramic body armour plates? :)

Did you heat it up first with the tray?!

As the MRE side rice, the rice need to be warmed up first. When cold, it´s solid as a rock too.

It´s the protein that glues them together

Olli is right. the rice needs to be heated first, specially in a double boiler since those trays are made for it.
I have some trays of "mistery meat" and gravy that is better hot than cold. :D
the only ones that are good cold are the cakes, any kind.

By the way nice looking fried rice!!!!!
Peace!!!
