2002 Menu 24 Meatloaf with Gravy

Post by bravo6 » Mon Feb 08, 2010 11:29 am

First of all this site is awesome. I didn't know so many people had a passion for MREs. Here is my review of what I ate yesterday 2002 Meat loaf w/ gravy..

Meat Loaf w/Gravy - meatloaf was firm and not really moist. The gravy looks like normal gravy. Taste is great considering its from 2002. I finished the whole portion. Nothing bad has happened to me.

Mashed Potato- I was surprised it looked and tasted like regular mashed potato better than some fastfood variety. Not stale or bad at all, just needed salt.

Toaster Pastry - it was good and chewy.
Jelly - flavor is grape color and texture resembles grape jelly but the it tasted like prune jelly. I discarded it.

Crackers (Vegetable)- havent opened it

Cocoa Beverage Powder - Super!! as always!

Accessory Packet, B - the package had 2 accessory packets. Lucky me!probably a mispack

I will post pics next MRE I eat. It's mostly 2002.
Flameless Heater- it was a dud. did not heat up.

I have seen frequent problems with older heaters. The new ones always work. The older ones (meals that are five to twelve years old when I opened them) sometimes take a long time to start heating, but to get hot after maybe ten or so minutes of doing nothing. Some other older ones never get hot at all. From my experience, the heater is the first thing to go in an old MRE, followed by the commercial candy.

I had 2008 meatloaf with gravy and it was the grossest thing ever. The Meatloaf was ok, but the mashed potatos were terrible and didn't even come close to the real thing. I put some pepper in there and it helped out, but man that was nasty :x Fortunately I got some 2008 Chili Mac lined up for tomorrow and all my troubles will flowaway
