May 1st is a statutory holiday over here and a tradition for our familiy is a camping trip to meet the whole clique like our parents did before.
I took my Ilts, loaded up the trailer with Bundeswehr crew tent, cots, lots of other stuff and a case of 2007 A MREs I never had once before. :D

In our driveway

My brand new German Army crew twent

Our food supply for three days. One case of MRE, 2 x Heater Meals and a box of left overs and extra FRHs, candies (for all the other kids), a bag of wheat bread (without "snack"!)...
Image

we started first dinner with No. 5 Chicken Breast, Corn Bread Stuffing, Caramel Apple Bar a.s.o.
Image

The Chicken Breast was like usally, but the Corn Bread Stuffing will be my new favourite side order :D

Mrs had a No. 7 Chicken w/Salsa, Mexican Rice as she prefers hot stuff.

Next dinner:

(I know it´s a breakfast MRE - but nobody over here will have a MRE for breakfast...)

Cheese & Vegetable Omelet, Hash Browns w/ Bacon

The omelet was just "OK" to me, add a dash of salt

but the side...

was another surprise to me :D I really like it! Very delicious and spicey (not hot)

Hot stuff as allways...

Thanks for sharing, Housil!

I recently brought some MREs to a camping trip and my friends looked at me with confused skepticism. I think I enjoyed my meals better than they enjoyed their hot dogs, though.

Danke mein freund...for sharing your trip with us!! :D

I see we have some thing in common besides military collecting,MRE's and rations....
I got a Bundeswehr pocket knife by Victorinox as a belated B-day present this weekend and I like it ....
Also I'm trying to get the new swiss army knife, without the production stamp on the blade.

Ace, you are right sometimes people look at me crazy when I take one of my MRE's for lunch at work....
Shuss!!!!
Peace!

That looks fun, the beer looks awesome :D Theres beek jerky in the FSR too... its ok eventhough both flavours tasted the same :? One was more spicy that the other.

Me and friends normally camp under the stars e.g without a tent, just a sleeping bag and a floor mat, much easier as I stuggle with tents :D . The area I live in has a large ammount of forestry around planted in the 1960's by the government. It gives us fuel and if needed a make-shift shelter. That only really works if the weather is nice though otherwise its not that much fun as it limits what you can do.

Our trips are the reason I became interested in rations, theres 24 hours food in a small box, otherwise we would be overloaded with tins.

Housil,

Thanks for the pictures of the trip; that looks like it was fun. I have to admit the cinnamon scone is the best breakfast item so far. I love it! :D
