Review: Meatballs in Marinara Sauce

Post by cat » Fri Aug 15, 2008 11:58 am

Meatballs in Marinara Sauce
Date Code: 7092
MFG: Menu C (Ameriqual Foods)
Reviewer Rating: 4.5 [out of 5 stars]

Over All Opinion: Damn! Oh, you want more then that? OK, well maybe its just because this is the first MRE I've review that was not vegetarian or maybe it was just that good. Either way this meal gets a nearly perfect score. The meatballs where big and savory and perfectly soft textured. The marinara sauce was very good, it actually tastes like marinara sauce (not a hint of Chef Boyardee like aftertaste). My only complaint is the 18g of fat.

Sides:
- Short Bread Cookie (date code 7325): Nice, crisp and sweet, very good. Did anyone else just have deja vu?
- Cheese filled pretzels (date code 6312): Combos, WooHoo!
- Oatmeal Cookie (date code: 7171): Yumm, not-so-subtle cinnamon sugar flavors, but there are also creamy flavors in there. The cookie was soft with a crumbly crunch, expect a mess. [but 15g of fat? Really?]
- Peanut Butter: Creamy, not at all separated from the oil\fat.
- Snack Crackers (date code: 7194): Like saltines without any salt. What's amazing is that where not broken!
- Mini-Tabasco (red): While I didn't use it on this meal, it would have been handy on the last.
- M&M Peanuts: You've had M&Ms before right?

Final Thoughts: That’s a lot of food for one meal,

Mitz Said: This [Oatmeal Cookie] is the best government issued cookie I've ever had.

On any other forum ones wife saying that may seem strange.

Thanks for the review. I've gotta say it looks like the meatballs in sauce they use at 'Subway'.

Come to think of it, the cookie looks like one of theirs as well!
