We need to start a country captain chicken anti-defamation league.

In the spring I'm going to do a slow tour through Virginia and the Carolinas on my BMW (motorcycle, not car) and I intend to find a place where they serve the real thing, I'm betting that it will be worth the effort.

I agree! I liked the CCC.

I think it had gotten its bad rap for a number of reasons:

1. The aliterative name begs for ridicule and the "triple-C" abbreviation
2. The fact that it is completely unfamiliar to those not from Savannah, GA or that region
3. Almonds! Or "fish bones" as someone once called them. What's wrong with almonds?
4. Many people don't like curry. I used to know a guy who grew up on meat and potatoes. He was actually scared to enter a Chinese restaurant for fear of the unknown. Hey, get out and experience other cuisine.

Granted, it's always interesting to try out the new entrees that come from the Natick kitchens. When you throw in something ethnic--or in this case, very regional--it can be quite a surprise!

Who knows? CCC could make a comeback!

Big Galloot, on your trip, stop by here in Charlotte and I'll serve you some authentic Southern CCC...I have one of those MREs sitting about 10 feet for me right now...I'll FRH it for you!

That was me! What's wrong with them is that when I take a bite of CCC and start crunching on those almonds, my mind/mouth thinks it's biting into little fishbones. My immediate reaction is "Yuck! Fishbones!"...quickly followed by "What the heck are fishbones doing in my *chicken* entree?!"...and then the whole MRE experience is ruined.
