I can't believe this MRE was around for such a short time! Meal Ready to Eat Menu 17, Beef Teriyaki, is about as close as you can get to Japanese food with a US Military Field Ration. Surprisingly, the Teriyaki main was very tasty, featuring a rich umami flavor with a good balance of sour and sweet. I just wish this meal kit had rice! I wonder if it was replaced because it was too expensive to produce because I'd have to imagine it was popular with the troops.

Makes ya wonder, doesn’t it? Some items are fantastic, and discontinued. Some items are … not so good, and stick around forever.
