1991 So-Pak-Co Civilian MRE

This civilian MRE came from a case that I just opened. Box manufacturing date is 3-91 no “packaged” or “test” date.

As you can see the printing is plain and simple “Tuna with Noodles” nothing else, which is the very cool, to me anyway 😁. The case comes with 12 meals but only 6 menus, Meatballs and Rice, Chicken and Rice, Pork and Rice, Corned Beef Hash, Beef Stew and Tuna and Noodles.

Everything in the bag looked and smelled as it should. All components have dates ranging from 1988-1991.
Tuna 1990, Apple Sauce 1989, Crackers 1989, Cookie 1991, Beverage Base 1991, Cheese 1988.

Accessory packet was not dated but looked like a military packet. Never saw yellow gum tho.

Tried the Tuna first. It was very bland and had a slight “off” taste but still edible. I was surprised to see bits of mushrooms. Noodles were firm and the mushrooms added a bit of texture.

Apple sauce was fantastic. Still had a great flavor, I could have eaten it all.

Crackers were good, as always. Nice and hearty with a toasty taste.

The cheese had a sharp smell like blue cheese, which I love. It was grey not orange but had to try it. It was actually good, well to me anyway. Like I said I love blue cheese.

Cookie was AMAZING! No funky smell or taste. Was a bit worried because it looked like it had melted a bit inside to pouch.

Orange drink powder had a slight chemical smell but when I tasted it dry it seemed fine. After mixing it with water the smell went away, for the most part and tasted fine. It did leave a bit of a chemical after taste but I never drink them so that may be normal for the old beverage bases.

Overall, this ration has held up very well. Can’t wait to try another menu.

Thanks for looking.

can confirm, that's typical of the beverage bases
most wanted: RCIR, MCI/B units, IMPs, anything old, and a packet or two of RAFCO soup. PM if you've got these, or anything else to sell that isn't too expensive.
