My first MRE :)

Post by bl00k » Wed Oct 24, 2007 8:51 am

Hi all,
Just ate my first MRE (thanks to German_EPA)!

I must admit they are tasty. I ate the number 5 menu from 2004
Chicken Breast
Minestrone Stew
Cheese Spread (Jalapeno)
Wheat Snack Bread
Pound Cake
The minestrone stew was delicious even though i wasn't hungry at all, ofcourse i overfilled the MRE-heater, but nothing bad happened despite the warning on it :)
The cheese spread is not really my thing, too spicy ;) The chicken breast is heating as i type this. And after that ofcourse the pound cake :D

So that was the first of many to come :D 8)

congratulations on losing your mre cherry. i am surprised you dont like the jalepeno cheese. but i guess not everyone likes the spicy stuff. i hope you get a chance to try the chicken cavetelli. it is one of my personal favorites.

Pound cake was delicious :D, chicken breast was ok i guess, it's definitly not what chicken tastes like when you cook it yourself, but with the seasoning it tasted alright :)

I have also had two birthdays in the past week, and in both i gave them an MRE as a present, they both said it was one of the coolest gifts they'd ever had :P 8)

Heh heh...only in MREs will you find someone saying the chicken "doesn't taste like chicken".

(I don't know if it's a joke in other countries, but in the US, when you eat something strange - possum, rat, armadillo, etc. - and someone asks how it tastes, you say "it tastes like chicken".)

Hey --- it takes a lot of chicken beaks to make that entree (and just the right amount of seasoning too I might add).

Btw, what's up with this inspection date they stamp on every case?
Inspection
a formal or official examination
How can the US army use future dates for this?
Like one case i have:
Insp.: 01/08
That's January 2008 right?
Why do they do this?
