(My Kind of Meal) E-Mail

In the middle of October 2007 I sent an e-mail to My Own Meals, Inc inquiring about purchasing their meals with heaters:

Dear Sir/Ma'am:

I received a letter in the mail from a soldier friend that had your /My
Kind of Meal /Accessory Pack on a small information card kit.

If possible, I would like to order the MRE:*
A. Case Pack of Kosher MRE Military Ration Cases - Modular Ration
Configuration:

One case, if possible.

*Thank you,
J** K***

Not long thereafter I received this response:

I see that you work for NYC, but we do not sell MREs to individuals because the heaters cannot be used indoors and emit hydrogen gas - as all heaters in the market do. We consider it too dangerous for civilians, not familiar with using the heaters.
However, you can order our meals in trays or pouches, individually through http://www.kosherbyte.com or from us directly in case quantities. Pouches are available only from us.

I sent in a response that I was one of the first to field test heaters in the Army and that a Jewish website reported that you get alot of request for them and honor those requests (what they are intended for) and so on...

I did not receive a response.

Someone needs to point them to the Ameriqual aPack site:

http://www.readymeal.com/

and point out how they sell civilian MREs with heaters. And then point them towards Sopakco and show them how Sopakco also ships the Sure-Pak 12 civilian MREs with heaters.

And while they're at it, they should also go to http://www.heaqtermeals.com and check out these "dangerous" ready-to-heat-and-eat meals.

Finally, someone should point out that effectively saying your civilian customers are too stupid to use your product probably isn't a good marketing idea.

My Kind of Meal or Is it?

Kman:

Thanks for your response. Yes, I did in my e-mail point out some of their competitors ease of doing business.

But I purposely left that out of my follow-up e-mail in this forum.

Yes, her e-mail makes no sense.

It's clear they sell to select customers, only. However, it clearly states in Jewish World Review.Com that they sell individual cases for families which was the point of my follow-up e-mail.

There's other things I could say but anyway.

Shikster.

Kman:

I received special permission from My Own Meals, Inc. to order individual cases. I won't get into (how) details here out of respect for the company.

Suffice it to say I received two military (Halal Certified) cases and will dissemble them and provide photos and some commentary.

I was able to capture one photo of the meals. Notice plenty of potato per serving. More to come.

There might be a problem with the kosher meals in your picture-

Those boxes with "Swift" printed on them contain "Swift's Premium Hams"!

The Halal Certified U.S. Military Ration case has two smaller boxes within its case. 12 Meals & 12 Accessory Packs.

The entrees are packaged individually and dated properly on the box and on the retort pouch. The accessory lasts one year according to J&M but the individual components will probably last longer: salt and pepper should last indefinitely. But probably won't float in water like an MRE vacuum sealed bag.
