sag45, in those older FRHs, they tried a number of different ways of containing the heating element. In some, they used that cardboard enclosure and in others the chemicals just seemed to sit in the bag with a thin layer of plastic over them. Nowadays, the heating chemicals are covered by a white filter-type of material.
