the pouch is just like a iron can,its many layers of thin metal
and plastic and seals,it have also been in a autoclave
just like how they use to sterilice hospital gear before
surgury. so its safe as long as you dont eat when bulging
like cans or leaking weirde taste smell :? some would say
mres taste and smell weird anyhow

the things that change with age is : color, salty nes, texture
al this deppends on how it was stored, hot cold hot cold stresses
the food and it breake a part.

just like this imp meal,

this was a big piece of chicken or was it turkey?
and it have stored outside for many years in a car,hot cold hot cold

Cough-cough...

I´m sorry to disagree norge.

The relief by drinking milk is the cooling only (like an icepack on a bruise) BUT the fat of the milk will cause some more gastric acid to digest => increasing the reflux (heart burn).

If do you don´t have any Rolaids, Tums..... at hand, you can use some backing powder (sodium bicarbonate). Resolve a knife point of into some water. The alkaline backing powder will neutralize the gastric acid.
As any rapid first aid, you can eat some alkaline like prezels (sticks)

I "heard" hazelnuts should help best, almonds may too. But nuts contains also a lot of "oil" (you can set a walnut on fire!) => increasing gastric acid...

For you guys it is of the utmost importancy to stay anonymous! If your health insurances find out what you're doing, you probably will be kicked out, or pay triple fees, or worse, will be locked up in some sort of mental hospital! :P

I have some British rations from around 2001 and I still eat them. However the small tin cans with pate in it, have a greenish oil in it, which I don't trust. Everything else is still perfect.

The contents of the pouches and cans are absolutely sterile, but long term chemical reaction can cause some troubles with old food. Or the reaction between the acids and the container can do harm. Nothing on earth (and beyond) is really air tight/vacuum, so in the long run oxygen from the outside will penetrate the inside of the container, causing corrosion and other chemical reaction. Especially the pouches are prone to this problem.

hello aquarius :D

i have also seen the greenish oil,so i gott one checked by
laboratory woman at the general food health here in norway
and she said it was the herbs that was coloring the fat oil in the can
and it had a normal bacteria mesure. so i still eat them
