I got the shock of my reviewing life yesterday when I cracked open a 1989 Spaghetti mre. Most of it was no good, but I decided to open the maple nut cake that afternoon, with low expectations.
When I opened it, though, I found that it was perfect. No rancidity, perfectly moist. It had a slight doughiness, light artificial maple flavor, and the yummy taste of chopped pecans. I ate it so fast that I almost forgot to take a picture! Heres the link to it.

Yep, those things are really nice! The maple, cherry and chocolate ones are the best, super luck you got a nice one as most of them tend to leave your tongue tingling! I really wish they would bring these back!

Loved those. Someone refresh my memory. I recall a MRE desert muffin top with chocolate chips. Or something similar. It was delicious.
