Post by mreheater72 » Fri Oct 11, 2013 4:06 pm

Hi guys,

that September I made some bike trip through the North East of Hessen, Germany :D ("Home" of "Blackhorse Regiment" 11th ACR in and 3rd AD "Spearhead" in Cold War").

One day as as snack I ate some MRE "CHERRY NUT CAKE" with DoP July 29, 1980, very fine as always :D , see the photos:

Here are some leftovers from the 1980ies US FTX found on the way:

Old ammunition box

Lowfat Milk

Vintage MRE pouch (packed by Cadillac Products). You can see, that MRE pouches "rot" over the years :o !

The cake was very fine as always :D . Moist, dense, intensive taste as baked yesterday. As I mentioned before in my other "Nut Cake Reviews" here it seems that those cake never will get bad. I´m sure that they are still edible even 50 years after packaging! I will try this, I have some supply in my basement …

Yes Olli, the time where Nut Cakes were still in MREs was a very good time. Only good memories… :D

Yowie, I was three days on tour. All in all I drove about 240 km, some day 60 or 80 km, the other day about 100 km. The weather was great, also the landscape…
