I was hungry for a MRE today, so I decided to crack open a Sloppy Joe from 2007.
I noticed that I had a jalapeno cheese with nothing to put it on. After checking out the menu listing, I noticed that the 2 pack of wheat snack bread was missing. Everything else was there... I found it interesting that there were snack crackers AND shortbread cookies. If the bread was included, this would definitely be a high carb meal! I was quite happy to find a grape drink mix. Pretty much it is grape gatorade, but I really enjoy it.
I put the pouch into a pot of boiling water. Then I was ready to eat. Upon opening of the pouch I smelled that familar smell of a MRE meat / tomato sauce. At first it looked liked it was going to be runny, but after a little bit, it seemed to firm up.
I split the tortillas into quarters and spooned on some filling. First impression, delicious... I have found another favorite meal. I had some extra MRE crackers around so I also crumbled some of those into the filling. Even better! I then put some filling and some jalapeno cheese onto the remaining crackers. Delicous!
I'm glad that I have a few of these in my 2010 cases as I will enjoy it again!
Sloppy Joe - Menu 17 - 2007
Re: Sloppy Joe - Menu 17 - 2007
Thanks for that review. I also enjoy the Sloppy Joe meal. I've had two of them: and older one with Wheat Snack Bread, and a newer one with the Tortillas. It's strange that the 2007 menu said there would be Wheat Snack Bread in yours but they weren't there. I wonder if this might have been around the time they introduced the Tortillas and they replaced the Bread with the Tortillas at some point during the year without bothering to change the menu.

Sloppy Joe has been a favorite of mine as well. I will hate to see it go away with next years production. It is going to be replaced with Taco meat instead.
