1991 Maple Nut Cake

Hey guys, I wanted to also post some pictures of a Maple nut cake from 1991 that I sampled.

The Cake was moist and it didn't seem like it was made in 1991... strange how well it stored considering.
The nuts were rancid sadly..

I separated enough nuts from a part to eat a small bite and it tasted rather cheap yet tasty like a little debbie's snack - only a little strange.. tasty though!

Steve, thanks a lot for that detailed review with nice pics . I specially like that, because I´m a fan of "vintage" MRE Nut Cakes. I ate hundreds of those in the early eighties, I always can´t get enough of those, in particular the Chocolate and the Cherry. The last years I also ate some Nut Cakes with DoP in the early eighties and they were all very fine, so I´m shocked that Maple Nut Cake dated 1991 you tested was not ok . By adequate storage they usually have a very long shelf life, norge certainly can acknowledge that ...

Thankyou for the nice reply and those cool pics mreheater! I was surprised as well when I tasted the rancidness in the Maple Nut Cake.

I had a Chocolate Nut Cake once! It was perfect unlike this Maple Nut Cake.

Here was the only nut cake I've ever had that was edible...


It was so amazing... it had a slight banana taste... is that normal?


The chocolate chips were so sweet! Hmmm I wish I had more of them!
