With much anticipation I tried my first chocolate dairy shake last night. After adding exactly 6oz. of cold water and shaking for what felt like 10 min. the shake was still unpalatably lumpy. The flavor itself was similar to frosting so I can see why it's used that way in many of the tips and tricks. So far this is the only item I’ve come across that I wouldn't eat (or drink).

Guys, Guys,

As a alternative I found that throwing the shake in the blender for a minute will remedy the problem altogether. No clumps, no fuss, no mess. :D

I had the vanilla shake, never again, it was not that nice, the vanilla taste of it was but it was just too sweet and sickly for my taste; couldn't get it to disolve anyway the bottom was just a thick mass even after 15 minutes of shaking.

I haven't tried the other's, I gladly will, PM me if you want to sell one.

Prehaps if it hadn't been as sweet I would have liked it.

Thats the hard part. I gave my late great Uncle an MRE with a heater back in the early "90's, and explained to him that one needs to follow the instructions to the "T", and he said, welp, that means 90% of the population of WV won't be able to do this. The Canadian pudding must be what your talking about. Banana and Coconut does not work. Those Canadian IMP pudding packs do not work, and have big chunks no matter what you do.
The key to the IMP pudding is to shake it then use the "handle" of your spoon to dig the power out of the corners, shake it some more then squish the clumps against the side of the pouch using your spoon before giving it one final shake. I've yet to try the MRE milkshakes but I assume this method would work with them as well.

Yesterday I drank a chocolate plus a strawberry MRE shake (burp) and I fell totally in love with them ! They tasted fine. I added a little more water than required.
Here's the trick: Add just a little bit of water and start mixing. If the mix is too thick than add a little bit more. It has to look like thick pudding while mixing. Use the handle of your spoon to scrape the corners and bottom. Keep on pouring in small amount of water untill the taste and thickness you like has been reached.
Bon appetit!

The same applies for the chocolate drink of any other MRE.

I like the Strawberry and the Vanilla, but not the Choc. so much. I am not a big fan of anything Choc. anyhow. I grew up in a gym and I can tell you guys, that these things taste like fine dining as compared to the protein powders we drank 25+ years ago.

Here's what i do with my dairy shakes. I always use more water than the intructions call for. Same as i do with the fruit drinks and so on. Less undissolved sugar and so on. Either that, or I crush up ice and sprinkle it inside theshake pouch add water and shake reall hard for at least threeor four minutes. i mean, really shake it for a while. The result is well worth it. If you use ice and make a slush with it, it's alot closer to what it's supposed to taste like.Yummmmmmy
