1990-91 CORNED BEEF HASH

Post by Doom64Guy » Thu Dec 11, 2008 11:47 am

1990-91 corned beef hash. i have to admit when i first got this baby, i was so freaking happy to get an old school MRE everything was ok, almost no mess ups in the bag. the cookie bar was as hard as a rock, my little brother hit his own head with it, a lump appeared two days later. the freeze dried fruit was still very good and so was the lemonade mix, very sweet. the crackers were still crackers, and the jelly was even good. the Tabasco had mutated into a gewy black substance  , and the vanilla caramels were waxy, and the after taste was like biting a crayon. the main entree was in excellent condition, i keep it closed for 12 days. then i opened the carton but not the pouch for about a month. finally three days ago i did it. it tasted like potted meat with old stale potatoes. i added TB sauce from a newer MRE and so much salt i could have killed myself. the cookie bar was good but the after taste could knock out a horse. that was my dark brown MRE experience.

Pretty brave of you - tasting those old caramels! And the main entree tasted like potted meat with old stale potatoes? So you're saying it tasted as fresh as the day it was packaged? :-)
