Favorite Vintage US Rations?
What's y'all's favorite Vintage Rations?
I've never seen one in person, but I really can't help but get interested in those old survival Arctic rations.

Likes coffee, rations, and cheese. Will probably print things for coffee.

Its a mix for me between brown bag era Pork and Rice in BBQ Sauce, and Ham Slice. I also REALLY enjoyed a 1996 Beef Steak, there was something different to it from the late 90's-early 2000's beefsteak, it actually tasted like steak lol.

It's always interesting (and sometimes annoying) how the same ration can be totally different depending on the year it was made, isn't it?Cortexmelon wrote: ↑Tue Sep 04, 2018 7:38 pmIts a mix for me between brown bag era Pork and Rice in BBQ Sauce, and Ham Slice. But the BBQ pork & rice sounds sooo good.

My favorite Vintage US ration would be the RCW, its a shame that that one got discontinued

I liked all the early ones, but especially Chicken A'la King and the Dehydrated Pork Patty.
Seems like all the menus came with beans in tomato sauce and plain crackers, too. Yum.
Love plain crackers with cheese spread. Vegetable crackers and that (ugh!) chemical-tasting wheat bread are the devil!

I will admit that the beans in the old MRE's did look pretty good

Never threw away those vegetable things, but the plain hardtack was perfection.
Re: Favorite Vintage US Rations?
My favorite Vintage C-Rats were beans and frank chunks in tomato sauce. They were delicious hot or cold. Turkey loaf ran a close 2nd. Ham and eggs chopped was good if u cooked them. Add some hot sauce and put on a cracker. We veteran troops would bring store bought crackers to the field because C-Rat crackers were barely edible compared to MRE crackers.
