Tray rations

Post by hiddenhollow » Mon Jan 22, 2018 4:23 pm

Hello everyone. I have been going through my collection of military items and came across these UGRs. I believe I purchased them 12 to 15 years ago at a local military surplus store that has since closed. I can't find much information on these except for a video showing the new ones in the plastic containers. One is bread pudding with ham and the other is pork and beans. Below are some pictures that show the top of the trays and the codes printed on them. I would appreciate any information on these and if anyone would be interested in them I would trade or sell them. Thanks.

I changed the headline from "UGRs" as these aren´t whole UGRs but "just" trays.

These trays suppose to be from 1996, see last pictures saying "6278" so they are 22 yrs old  The change from metal to polymer containers was 2002.

Due to my own experience, these old trays aren´t edible anymore. The food inside will taste like metal from the tray containers.

Hello everyone. Since this is the last T-rat thread i´m going to hi-jack it. (hope this is no problem). Got me some t-rats. The dates are 6027, 5076 und 5279. So this would be like 2016 and 2015, right? But how do i know its not like from 2006 and 2005? I mean it could be both, right? On top of the trays, where the explanation of the meal is written stand something like Revision A 03/24/15 an alike. Is this a giveaway on the production year too?

Thanks for the help

Yep, Housil is right, these are not going to be edible anymore sadly. If you open them up you might find some nasty mold too! Awhile back one member opened some of his old school tray rations and there was some mold present in a few.

Are these metal tray rations, OR plastic tray UGR's?

Well cavguy, those are the plastic UGR´s. But since those were changed like in 2002/03 question still remains i guess. :)

The date codes on both UGR's and T-Rations can be confusing sometimes. Its probably easier to show a pic of the ration (menu) and the date code, or just type it here. Or you can reference the military documentation and see what range the item in question was in active production.

Everything you have looks to be from 2015/2016, I base that on the revision date on the top of the tray. All fairly new stuff and should be edible (can't guarantee it will taste like GOOD food, lol). If we use the 4 digit date on the side its kind hard to tell is it 2005 or 2015... But I'm sure what you have is 2015/2016.
