I just bought this and they did not know what year it is from. To me it may look like it is from WW2, but I may be wrong. It seem to be in pretty good condition too and the paint on it looks decent.
What do you guys think,

Hard to say, but I bet there's a date code somewhere, maybe embedded in the approval number. Those things were used for decades and may still be in use today. I saw them in .mil aircraft survival kits in the 2000s, some sweetheart .gov contract for somebody no doubt.

Yeah I am going to be getting it in the mail today. Hopefully there will be some visual numbers on it to go from there.

I wanted to start a thread with the same question, so I figured I'd hop on here to ask the same question...
I recently bought an Airman's survival kit, everything looks great in it, except this Sweet Chocolate Ration Bar, anyone have an idea of the time period this is from? I cannot find this chocolate bar anywhere. it came in a clear plastic bag full of bandages and typical survival items for an Airman's kit. The last one of these kits I had was 1958, but it had no chocolate bar. SO if anyone can give me any info on this chocolate, I'd appreciate it! feel free to ask me anything you need to know about this item. I will eventually post kit pics too if I decide to extract the rest of the items from the bag.
Thanks!

It sounds like you are referring to the PSK. There are 2 containers to the PERSONAL SURVIVAL KIT or PSK. I have one with the chocolate bar or maybe bars in it as well. There should be a date on the containers of antibiotics or something like that inside the kit.
This is the kit I'm referring to.

Well Oldsmokey, I know the PSK kits like you have there, what I have is a little odd. It’s 4 packages of bandages, the chocolate bar, and some of a PSK still in it’s hard plastic casing, and this is all in a heavy plastic bag. I’ve had survival kits in theses plastic bags before, but this one looks like someone took 2 different survival kits and bagged them into 1. I’d be happy to post pics, I just didn’t know if this is the right thread to do that on.
There were no dates on anything at all, except when I dumped out all the Oxytetracycline pills and I saw on the inside of the label in the bottle “expires 4/64”. So there’s the nearest date I have. I don’t know the shelf like of Oxytetracycline, but I assume it’s not very long.

Yeah I'm sure that stuff is poison by now. Those dates sound like around 1960 DOP but contents vary greatly in almost all the survival kits I've seen and have. But I'd say the chocolate is from 1960-1970 I'd bet. But it's hard to say especially if someone just mixed up a couple kits.
