anyone ever try printing on mre bags?

Post by mxjf » Thu Apr 19, 2007 1:19 pm

i've been wondering this for a long time: If you cut the mre bag material to 8 1/2 x 11, would you be able to print on it? you would have to rough it up with fine-grit sandpaper if you plan on using it in an inkjet though.
if an mre looks edible, and smells edible, it's most likely not edible.

Interesting idea, mxjf. My first thought is "no way" that's going to work with a regular injet. But then again, maybe it would just take a special kind of ink to adhere to the plastic. Maybe you'd have better luck with a dot-matrix printer if you could still find one.

I say give it a try!

maybe a laser printer could work.
I used one to print onto plastic transparent film at my previous job.
You mustn't try to scratch the ink with your fingernail once it's printed but it's OK if you don't touch it too much.

ok, I dont have a working laser printer, and i dont want to risk f***ing up my all in one scanner/printer,so I used the fax machine/copier only 20$ if I break it.

to test, I used the mreinfo custom bag info. (mystery meat)
Its a little small though.

the only thing wrong with it is that the image is about half size
