Applesauce Cake TFF

Post by Simon2002mre » Sat Nov 11, 2017 5:50 pm

I have never personally seen this little thing before in a ration, and it was a surprise for me to see it. As you can see in the photo and by the title it was a Apple Sauce Cake. I was SUPER exited to try it, and it was actually pretty good. It was like a solidified apple sauce packet, is what it tasted like. It looked like it had chunks of apple in it, although it didn't. It had a slight coating of sugar on the outside of it, like the pound cake, and it added a pretty great texture. Has anybody had one of these before and what are your thoughts? I loved it! :D

What are some other rare ration desserts are there?

Cheers all!

I had that in my first MRE - it was in 2015 menu #10 - Chili and macaroni.

And I was pretty much as happy with it as you, Simon :D Really nice crumbly piece of cake with proper apple flavour to it !

I love those cakes, one of the high points of a mre!
Cool find, I've never seen the Apple sauce cake!

I recently had an Almond poppy seed pound cake from an older MRE, 2012-14, and that was honestly one of the best pound cakes I've had from an MRE.
Keep calm and knead peanut butter

I never have good luck with those pound cakes! They always go rancid on me, it's gross!
