Which do you find better tasting, and what holds up longer. I've heard oatmeal bars are just amazing, and at some point I would like to review the deserts. But yea, what do you find more appealing?

Dehydrated fruit, cereal bars, chocolate covered oatmeal cookie.. think I gotta go with the old school.

Doesn't mean the modern ones are bad either. Really a big fan of Lemon Poppy-seed Pound cake.

They never told ya, the Lemon-Poppy pound cake makes you come up hot, on drug-piss-test. For opiates.

I'd go old school like Elevatorfan73 mentions. Those FD fruits are on point - and if no pinholes they last forever.

Hey Dave, you would have to be eating a ton of those lemon poppy seed pound cakes to fail a drug test - but then again those might be some potent poppy seeds and it only takes one to get ya.

This took me a few minutes to think about, but I think I like the deserts from the brown bag MREs the best. Specifically, I really enjoyed the fruitcake and pineapple cakes. Of course, it's hard to go wrong with freeze dried fruit and the chocolate covered cookie. When I was a kid, M&Ms, Skittles and Charms were always a treat. They still are!

In terms of longevity, I've eaten just about every desert from the 1980s here in the mid 2010s and I never got sick. The only desert item I can think of that didn't hold up was a Munch bar from a 1997 US MRE.

I just did a Sikh/Hindu review on YouTube and it had the chocolate pudding in chocolate sauce. It was amazing warmed up.

I have no sweet tooth. I enjoy sweets on the rare occasion I eat them, but I don't crave them at all. So the modern super-sweet items seldom get eaten. I really liked the few times I've had dehydrated fruit and compressed cereal bars from the old days, probably because they aren't very sweet. Of the modern items, the lemon-poppy seed cake is my favorite.

There are desserts other than Oatmeal Cookie Bars?

I've honestly only ever had the marble pound cake, but all the old school ones sound so good! I really wanna try the chocolate covered cookie; everyone says it's amazing and I love stuff like that.
