I want to order my first non-commercial (i.e. camping store) MRE/Ration I've been searching ebay but was wonder what everyone thinks should be my first. Also what was yours? Was it good was it bad?

honestly depends on your personal taste....can't go wrong with old standbys like Beef Stew, Spaghetti, or Chili Macaroni. On the other hand, if you're adventurous, look at something that sounds just unusual and give it a whirl.

I'm pretty willing to try most exotic stuff, except for a majority of fish lol.

in that case, get an american MRE and a Lithuanian meal.....you won't be disappointed.

My first non-commercial ration was a US MRE Menu #23 Chicken Pesto Pasta that I won from RC Gusto. I enjoyed it and it certainly lit the fire that is now my mild obsession with this hobby. Hahaha
I would say a US MRE or First Strike Ration would be a good place to start. I've yet to have a Lithuanian or Polish ration but they both look very good and somewhat more wholesome/homemade.

I'm watching a few Lithuanian, Russian, and French online but didn't want to make a move until talking to you guys. I'm a foodie and a former culinary student(ended up in IT) so its extremely intriguing to me to try foods from all over the world.

lithuania.post on eBay is a somewhat cheap option for getting French RCIR's... they are of amazingly good quality compared to US MRE's.

I started with the spanish ones, i sell them, the lithuanians have quite a reputation, but i havent been able to try them yet, not enough budjet yet xD

I was advised to do that, which I did, and I love them! Simple and hearty rations and not expensive. I've been going through the current us MREs and they're pretty reliable. I liked beef taco a lot and the southwest style beef.
Got some French RCIRs too which are great quality. Very fancy compared to the us MREs. Easy enough to get in the EU but I've seen US guys on here say they're hard to get. Whatever you choose, the guys here will give you good advice. I'm no expert in rations, just stating my personal amateur opinion but there are proper experts on here

I've never had a Spanish one, I'll have more Lithuanian soon. Swap?
