recommendations?

Post by Conrad » Thu Dec 01, 2016 11:03 am

Hello guys.

I haven't had many US MREs... Only chilli Mac, beef ravioli , maple sausage and beef stew.
What would be your suggestions of which current menus to try next?
i only have access to the current nirmal menus not the lrp or first strike versions or "vintage " stuff

Chicken and egg noodles is almost like Grandma made. Southwest Beef with Black Beans is great. I really like the Ratatouille if you can still get it. Taco Filling is very good. If you like McRibs, you'll like the Rib-Shaped Pork Patty. They're even harder to find, but the "alternate" menu #21 is Garlic Herb Chicken, and it is delicious.

Well, heck - let me cut to the chase: I like them all. And I've had most of them. The only one I truly disliked was the Chicken Fajita, in which the "chicken" was more like rubber erasers than meat.

I have to second what Rockyraab said, all the current stuff is quite good. The older discontinued stuff was discontinued for a reason.

On a side note, theepicenter.com has ratatouille on sale for $1.95 and they are also bogo.
The first to bring you the MRE pizza stone.

That site does look cool but I'm on the wrong side of the Atlantic to make good use of it I think. (Ireland).
I do like the sound of the taco one. I tend to like a anything taco/chili related. And the beef and black bean well what the hell I can get one and try it. I am a little hesitant about the chicken ones as I usually find long lasting highly processed chicken to be very much like that "pencil erasers" description

I've heard that Long Range Patrol rations, Meal Cold Weathers, and Halal MREs are good. I don't know about MORE warm or cold weathers or about First Strike Rations. As for standard MREs, The case B ration are pretty good. I don't think I have ever had any from case A before.
Good luck and may your rations stay unspoiled!

I recently tried a Beef Stroganoff LRP ration and it was very good, highly recommended in fact.

Beef stroganoff is one of my favourite "normal" foods so yeah, think I'd like to try that

Thanks for those. I suppose I should ask in the trading section if anyone has any they might want to send me
