Today I got a new "treasure":

A hugh can to make 13 servings, just add boiling water and stir...

Has anyone a suggestion how old this can may be?

See stamping at center of top:

It say´s "0262" on it. If it would be a MRE, it will mean:
Year 19X0 (like 1970, 1980, 1990)
262th day of the year. (Sep 19th)

Or has anyone of you another idea?! (e.g. Company is out of buisness since x, so can must be older than...)

Thank you in advance for your suggestion from Germany

0262 could also mean febuary 1962... the use of the 'year + julian date ' wasn't used until fairly recently.

I'm just doing a lot of guessing here because I'm not clear on the history of the Wornick Company. It looks like Wornick might have been known as "Wornick Family Foods" around the early 1990s - I found a reference to a court case from 1994 that cited an earlier court case with Wornick Family Foods. It also cited a company formed in 1991 so I'm guessing early 90s.

So my vote would be for that date being from 1990.

You have some good eyes Olli, I didn't even see the spoon.
Hmm, you seem to be that kind of persons who spend most of their free time in caves ans tunnels

So it's so hard to give a date within a 28 year period?

Hi guys,

here are some photos of my latest trade, bought on a flea market in Bavaria/Germany at the beginning of February 2007 for 1,50 EURO :D (about 2,00 US Dollar). I don’t know the exact age, but I estimate the can of “Pork Chops” is at least 20 years old! The recipe on the lid sounds good!
