"What we've gone out and done is purchased a tremendous amount of supplies," he said. For example, according to a White House document, the Homeland Security Department, which includes FEMA, now has 770 truckloads of MREs compared to 180 before Katrina struck. Each truckload serves 10,000 people per day.

Hi King. Thanks for the post and the link.
Unlike "Brownie", Paulison knows what it's like to operate in a hurricane zone. I lived in one of the worst places hit by Hurricane Andrew and while the system wasn't perfect those who needed assistance received it.
I'm not sure he was the Director of Emergency Management here in Miami (Dade County) at the time of Andrew, but we had a bunch of other issues during his time here.
Hopefully, this year will be light on storms and big on preparation.
Thanks to this site, I'm all caught up on what I need (MRE) wise.
