The biscuit of a can

I got the canned food of the biscuit. Does someone know what this is?
The color of the whole can is O.D.
The side seems to have lost the label.
The following is printed on the top.

BISCUITS
6 ozs Nett
12/44
12/44 may be the date...

Yes, looks like a date 1944! Wow, I guess its the crackers from some type of "squad" ration?

Nice find! I would interpret it as 1944 as well. I'm no expert, but it looks like the type of canned item they included in the small group rations. Nice addition to your collection!

For some reason this is tickling a memory...something about when our boys were training in ireland during WW II....let me look back thru some of my saved stuff.

I knew that looked familiar. My grandfather served in the 6th Cav during WWII, and when I learned they did their staging training in Ireland I started looking at the rations, including local purveyors he would have encountered (origin MOS was cook). W&R Jacobs was a biscuit/cracker maker based out of Dublin.
Heres a blurb from their Wiki page...
In 1922 a separate English company was formed, W & R Jacob (L'pool) Ltd.[1] The two branches separated, with the Dublin branch retaining the W & R Jacob name while the Liverpool branch was renamed Jacob's Bakery Ltd.

I found the photograph of the biscuit can of the print just like this.
However, a maker is different. (and a size etc...)
