A few things I've been wanting to share with you all:
1.) I have been noticing more and more with the last few cases of very fresh 2013-2014 MREs that there is a lack of matches in accessory packs. Unless, that is, it has coffee in it. I got a case of B Menus and the coffee comes in plain manila colored packs, just like all the old blasted-dried stuff they used to issue.
2.) They are sorta kinda bringing back some old menus, I was shocked to find Au Gratin Potatoes in my Meatballs With Marinara Sauce ration. I mean, i had to do a double take. So i ate it hot and it was AWESOME.

3.) That new fangled multigrain snack bread SUCKS. Made me sick as hell.
4.) Apple Turnovers. Christ, I have a shitload of them. it seemed like every time i opened a ration to see what was inside, there it was. i keep these stashed away... Ditto with the fudge brownies, and marble poundcake...
5.) Every goddamned beverage base powder pack in two cases of 2013 A/B were Tropical Punch Flavored. Every. Last. One.
6.) Gone are those horrid apple cider packs. bastards took out the iced tea. Which sucks.
7.) I discovered, much to my horror, that when you are REALLY starving, even what I call Barf Bag Menus taste really good. I hadn't eaten all day after a twelve hour shift. Just drank alot of fluids and snacked here and there, but by the time I got home it was late and it was also December 7th, So i watched "The Pacific" and opened up a piping hot abomination of Chicken With Tomatoes And Feta Cheese. I lovingly call this concoction Bile In A Bag because I tried to eat the meal luke warm and all it did was piss me off and i thought it tasted kinda like something you inadvertantly vomit into your mouth

But this time around I found the meal to be quite satisfying, and seeing as how I have these thrown into my Barf Bag Stash a meter or two deep, I might not be so hasty next time when trying something new to turn my nose up at it. As my mom likes to point out, she don't run a diner. Same goes for Uncle Sam. Not a meal I could eat at 0darkthirty.
8. Lastly, I'd like to extend my best holiday wishes to all, especially those serving here at home and abroad who may not be able to get back to their loved ones for Christmas My gift to you this year : I found a recipe for MCI Poundcake at a a blog called the The Joy Of Field Rations. Turns out the guy who posts to it is a military man and is a chef by trade, and he re-creates all sorts of awesome recipes, like Army Bread, WW2 Recipe, I can make it right in my mess kit. There are recipes for Army cinnamon ro;s, coffee cakes, you name it. It is a culinary history lesson you will love. I plan on making C-Rat Poundcakes for Christmas for the team and for a few ole timers at work who last had this dessert in a tropical Southeast Asian Country long before my time.
Enjoy and God Bless!!!!!
