STD Here, just had a question about the MRE Clam Chowder.


Recently got a package from a friend, consisting of a few items and a few MREs. I'm not a big seafood guy, but i'll try anything once or twice if it's edible.

Wanted to get some personal opinions on it, before I pack it away in a field stripped lunch sack for future use.

I personally like the clam chowder just fine. I have a ton of the stuff and do occasionally bust out a packet for dinner at home. It can use a bit of salt and it's great with crackers. Always eat it hot - it's somewhat weird cold.

I agree with Ruleryak. It has the same "glop" consistency as most MRE entrees but tastes good.

Yeah, i'll grab a spare Seasoning Packet, some crackers and spices and such to go with it.

I had it once and got some "belly trouble" from.

Mine's from a 2007 MRE, the menu with the almighty pork rib. The rest of the rations I had out of that bundle (Excluding the tuna) seemed very fine in condition.

Worst case scenario, i may just trade it to a buddy for somethin' sweet.
