"Bread Type Unit" dated August 1948

Post by mreheater72 » Fri Jul 13, 2012 3:55 pm

Hi guys,

after some delay I´m back with some nice vintage "Bread Type Unit" can dated August 1948, packed by "VAN BRODE MILLING CO., INC. CLINTON, MASS." :) . I guess it is out of a C-Ration, but I´m not sure :| . Now some pics of that rare collectible, which I bought at ebay.com for about 10 bucks :D :

Any ideas to which ration that can belong :) ?

Very good pics, mreheater72! It looks like you have found the bread type unit component of the "10-in-1" or "5-in-1" ration which was issued to U.S. troops in WW2 and probably during the Korean conflict as well. I got this information from the website http://reprorations.com just click on the products section and click on U.S. rations. Although the website is not always very accurate, I do recall seeing cans identical to this in my uncle's stuff that he had from when he served in the Korean War as an MP, and he told me the rations also had canned ham and chicken as well.
