US Military MRE Statistics
Does anyone know how many MRE's the US government/military purchases every year? A rough estimate will suffice.

The United States military and other government entities maintain a stockpile of over 21 million cases at any one given time. This information I heard when Hurricane Katrina hit the South. This is just the stateside numbers. There is a large underground bunker complex guarded by rent-a-cops near a friend's survival retreat in Indiana and it is said that this place is used strictly as a food storage facility.
I know it's not much to go on and doesn't necessarily answer the question, but it does give you an idea of how much is out there. This doesn't surprise me much.
