Rancied Cookies

Post by housil » Sun Oct 23, 2011 1:28 pm

After having a 2002 Beef Stew for me and a Chicken w/Salsa for Mrs, I´d like to have my Shortbread Cookies :mrgreen:

After opening the bag, I smelled a very well known nasty smell.
Over 9 years (2081) of storage were too much for them... :cry:

I have noticed that every bag of cookies from my 2006 rations are also rancid. It never happens to the big shortbread cookie just the bags of small cookies.

I did eat at least one of the bags but tossed out 8-9 other bags.

I have experienced the same issue with the same cookies.
"Do not attack the First Marine Division. Leave the yellowlegs alone. Strike the American Army."
Orders given to Communist troops in the Korean War;
shortly afterward, the Marines were ordered
to not wear their khaki leggings.

I had the exact same issue with the shortbread cookies I ate in those "heat stressed" MREs. They were rancid, alright...but I couldn't stop tasting them to try to figure out exactly what tasted bad. :-)
