New/Improved Wheat Snack Bread Coming?

Post by unixshrk » Mon Dec 27, 2010 12:17 pm

I was reading the 2011 MRE incoming/outgoing lists over the weekend.
On the outgoing it lists the Wheat Snack Bread,
And on the incoming for 2011 it also lists the Wheat Snack Bread.
Is this a typo or are they going to change up the already good WSB?
I cannot find anymore information on this.

I don't think so, sometimes Natick Labs will print a change and then print a new version the same way. If that makes any sense :? I think we talked about this in another thread and I for one would be interested in a new change of snack bread. The square ahrdtack looking thing and the standard flat loaf shape are okay but something like a soft Kaiser roll or artisan bun that could withstand rough treatment would be a super idea. :D

I was looking at the new menus and saw something about wheat snack, 2 piece. Could the improvement be a second slice of bread to make a sammich with? :?:

This review shows the 2 piece snack bread. It definitely seems to come with items that would make sense as a sandwich

When I did Basic back in '93 we used to get issued a shelf-stable bread roll along with most MREs we got. Came in a separate case, I don't remember the quantity per box. We were told they were some RFI sort of deal developed for the Gulf War but don't think I ever saw one again after basic training. Real bread, a bit dry in texture -- when I saw the roll in some of the Canadian IMPs years later, I'm pretty sure they're the same recipe. I found them a lot more appealing than the later wheat snack breads.
