What a great article and first-hand insight into MREs from the battlefield. Great pics. of intl. rations as well. Would be nice to know if the contents shown are both current and accurate. Thanks for sharing.

The author and photographer was here at forums and asked for the rations.

search.php?author_id=1117&sr=posts

I sent him several that are now displayed at the New York Times

I´m just sorry that the NYT never mention their sources so we couldn´t read he got some of them from MREINFO Forums

Thats not cool Olli. You have intellectual copyright, and this is commercial.

A decent freelancer would have cited sources at least, I would.

He asked us if we would send him rations so he can report about them.
There are no copyrights violations with it. He (the author) was in close contact with us before.

Hi everyone,

I meant to write earlier, but I see you guys beat me to it.

I wanted to thank each and every one of you who assisted me in finding and actually selling me ration packs from around the world. You've all helped me very much in creating a new understanding of the war in Afghanistan that noone even thought of before (with exception of the community here of course).

I'm sad that the Times could not have mentioned the forums, or specifically Kinton, but it's not generally done. Perhaps in a follow up story, we can get a mention in.

Thank you so much, my hat is off to all of you.

Ash
