Hi guys,

yesterday was the last day of the celebration week of 100th anniversary of Grafenwoehr training area. It was possible for civilians to visit parts of the training area :D , and even entry to the new built PX and commissary was allowed :!: :!: :o :o :D :D (I guess the largest ones outside continental US) , only buying without ID card was forbidden   .

Here some ration, gear and vehicle photos from the presentation of German collectors:

I could only find 1 reference, a picture taken at the end of the war with Japan, with a released POW.

Yep just got the same pic db, just enlarged a bit. Its plainly the same.

Im thinking this was like a C ration aboard ship, 12 man serving would be a good number for your average navy ship mess size, like a gun crew or engine room team, DC, etc.

im guessing its quite a late development. The chicken and vegetable is a 1944 item in the improved C rations.
It seems to have some components in common with the late C and the 10 in 1.

I wonder if it was ever used on land, by USMC detatchments.

Well its unique :D No immediate references to it either on line

I am kind of surprised about those US Navy Rations...
When I first joined, everything was WW2 leftovers, including the food!
Never saw that type can before though.
There were liferaft rations from 1943, just the sugered candy stuff, plus Lucky Strikes, in the green pack!
Most of the food, ALL of the Ammo, all the small arms etc were from '43 / 44/ 45 era.
This was 1968, so 20 year old chow.... :?
