Hi, I was wondering what is the frequency in which MRE are eaten by soldiers. But also on you guys (forum members).
Is it possible to get "sick" from eating them too often?

Thanks.

lol if that's the only sickness I can get from MRE then I'm happy.
Hope I don't get that though.

Aside from the case of food poisoning I got from an MRE due to quality control issues, about the only thing I'd be careful of is having enough water to drink. In my national guard unit, soldiers would drink cans of coke in the field while eating MREs and would not drink enough water. This usually caused constipation but in a couple cases the soldiers suffered severe cramps, nausea, and other issues from leaving opened entree pouches out in the sun for too long. I have found that the more water you drink the easier it is to digest the food, but it is a very good idea to avoid soda-pop if you intend to use these for camping.

I intend to experiment with them, depending on how well they perform I might even take them as regular meals for cheapness reasons. I'm running low on green at the moment.

If I recall right, MREs are not made to be eaten for a longer period than 30 consecutiv days to prevent malnutrition.
But that´s an US Military rule for their troops.

Having McD... and Burger K... and... is worse to me than having MREs for "a couple" of days.

Exactly my thoughts. Looking back at the average college student, eating so much crappy foods or not eating at all. To me it looks like living off of MREs might be a better diet, besides I'm not good at cooking and I'm pretty sure I'm not getting all the nutrient spectrum I should from food.
Either way, I take multi vitamin pills everyday do ensure vitamin/mineral/aminoacids consumption.
Maybe eating MRE five days a week, I have McD, BK, CJ, and TB one minute away, I just need to cross the street. And my aunt cooks pretty tasty food.

Anyway, I just had my first MRE. Pork Rib and clam chowder. Rib was amazing, clam chowder was tasteless so I added salt. Tortillas were good enough, cheese dressing for what? Everything was great.
But, how do I correctly dispose of the heater?

Just open the top, dump water in and let it go through the chemical process, then it's safe to throw away.
