Hi guys,
today I received a dark brown MRE Menu No. 4 CHICKEN WITH CAVATELLI, packed by RIGHT AWAY FOODS .
I checked the menu-lists here, the first time that menu appears was 1998, but that time the MRE pouch had already the tan colour. As you see in the pics the MRE was marked with black water resistant pen, for what ever reason?!
Here the pics:

Well, that's very odd. If the date of manufacter was 1998 then they should have had that the tan color by then. Wasn't it 1994 that they stopped using the dark brown color and went to the tan?

They stopped in 1995 and intended tan in 1996.Treesuit wrote:Wasn't it 1994 that they stopped using the dark brown color and went to the tan?

Cool find. I went to basic in 96' we still ate dark brown bags, the first tan bag I saw was in 98'. Of course I did not pay attention to the date's then. That is an odd find. Maybe they had some left over brown bag stock and used it.
