Food in AT&T bunkers
Hello all, I'm glad to be here as I have always been interested in the subject of rations and during my military service I had the "opportunity" if u will, to eat several with good results for the most part, lol! I'm curious if anyone here would know what food systems AT&T used in their series of hardened underground facilities during the cold war and today. I'm assuming some kind of Freeze-dried or similar since space in these facilities would necessarily be at a premium and Mountain House, to my knowledge, holds gov't contracts. Sorry to be so long winded on my first post and thanks.

Interesting...most of those bunkers were in the east coast in Virginia.

I love that website http://coldwar-c4i.net and I did see the pics on there of the greenbriar bunker museum with the cases of MountainHouse food stacked in the tunnel. I'm guessing that MountainHouse is their provider, as it would be ideal for long term use, and sure beats starving! Of course how much water could be stored on site would be a large factor I'm sure.

I took a look into that cold war website and it is quite fascinating. I never knew such sites existed. I was only familar with a huge listening post in Yakima, WA. DoD? NSA? USAF? Not sure who they belong too, but in some areas of the Yakima Firing Center you can see the huge antenna arrays and dishes.
Also by looking at some of the sites I, too wonder what kind of food storage most of these places would have. I remember reading a link to the same site not too long ago about the Office of Civil Defense stocking up severeal sites of survival candy and long life crackers. Not the best things to eat when the SHTF,

Re: Food in AT&T bunkers
There was a posting i believe in international rations on here about the british coldwar air raid warning centers and it showed the food rations that were stocked at these sites. In my town there is a large mill building on a dis-used rail siding which from about 1953 to 1995 was used by the state civil defense to store blankets, radiac meters, food, water, and other essentials. very musty spooky place and there was rumored to be underground tunnel connecting the building to the town office building a half mile away. but yes this AT&T website is very interesting and i love exploring it.
