i've been buying MRE's from a Miltary surplus store and when i open them up the tabasco sauce is bad... and since i buy the Mexican style stuff this really ticks me off. its only the tabasco sauce... anybody else have this problem?

Did it leak? If so yes I and a few other folks have had this problem.

I have never had any bad Tabasco sauce, just Tabasco sauced that has leaked out of the bottle and messed up the rest of my accessory packet. I think it was an isolated incident in one of my cases though. I have not encountered it lately.

Hi Gmz1023. Wow, that's some pretty bad luck with the tobasco sauce. Maybe all 9 were from similar cases that had been stored poorly.

The tobasco sauce quality seems to be hit or miss lately. I could probably go open up any 1991-1999 MRE and the tobasco sauce would be still be good (and in the bottle). It might be a little dark, but it would still do the trick.

But it seems around 2003, they must have started manufacturing the tobasco sauce bottles differently because I started running into a bunch where the tobasco had escaped from the bottle. I think part of it has to do with the way they shrinkwrap the tobasco label over the bottle - the top must be able to work itself loose either before it gets put into the accesory pack or shortly afterwards.

The problems seem to have gotten a little bit better lately but I'm still finding the occasional tobasco bottle only half-full.
